Back ATH It!

Junior year is really happening, y’all, and I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this past week has been. I moved into my house on the 7th and started recruitment for Delta Gamma the very next day at 7 am! After that, it’s been a whirlwind.

Last year I did a post about my room in the Delta Gamma house with pictures of how I decorated. I didn’t make one this year because I’m still trying to unpack all my stuff. Let me know in the comments section below if you’d like another room decor post!

So back to recruitment. This year I recruited every single round. To say that I’m exhausted is an understatement. Not only do I love sharing the joy my sisters bring me year round, I love being able to goof off in between rounds and get to know all my sweet UGA DG’s even better. This year I had the most amazing bump group (mainly because I got to recruit with my little Rachel!).

Below is a photo of my pledge class from last year’s bid day. I can’t wait to meet all my new sisters on the lawn tomorrow night!

FB_IMG_1471461689385

Last night I did something very, very special. I volunteered with the Arch Society, as well as five other student orgs vital to the university, to help make freshman welcome a reality. The freshmen at the University of Georgia have the opportunity to walk into Stanford Stadium and take pictures on the field. They are welcomed by their orientation leaders, the Redcoat Marching Band, the SGA president, Kirby Smart the head football coach, and President Morehead. I passed out waters and cleaned up trash with my DG sister Stacy.

There’s definitely nothing like being back in Athens. Go Dawgs!

Top Anthro Faves (that are now on sale!!!)

Anthropologie is one of my all time favorite stores. I’d live in it if I were ever given the chance! I was beyond thrilled when one opened up in my hometown, and even more thrilled when people started posting “Anthro DIY” crafts on Pinterest. While I do love a good DIY outfit or home decor idea, nothing beats the real deal. The going gets even better when the real deal is actually a deal.

Anthropologie is notoriously expensive, but the year round sale section and %-off offers make things easier on the wallet. Here are my top pics from the winter sale section! meribel-cowl-pullover

anthro-cowl-neck-sweaterMeribel Cowl Pullover

I own this sweater and can definitely attest to it’s warmth! While a little itchy (it’s wool), the boxy fit and the cowl neck make it very comfortable. I like the shorter fit of the shirt (I’m barely 5’4″) because it hits me right at my waistline. The picture on the right is me, right before I bought the sweater!

This sweater was originally $128 and now it’s $69.95!

airmail-pencil-pouchAirmail Pencil Pouch

I love receiving snail mail, don’t you? You know what I also like? Fancy pencil pouches. Not only do I feel organized, I look chic while doing it.

And while you’re off buying your pencil pouch, take a look at these pens. Not on sale, but still a match made in heaven.

Originally $24, now $16.95

tasseled-agate-lariatTasseled Agate Lariat

While there are some pretty good DIY articles out there, not everyone can make flawless tassels. That’s why this one is up for grabs in the sale section of Athro!

Buddha beads were super popular last spring, but this should be your new go-to piece when looking for a long chunky necklace. Tassels are in again! And it doesn’t look like they’re going away any time soon. Plus the raw agate gives this piece a boho chic vibe.

The necklace was originally $68, now $39.95

velvet-tunic-dressVelvet Tunic Dress

Velvet is everywhere this season. From dresses to tanks to booties – even chokers! This dress can be paired with a leather jacket for a cute tough girl look or dressed up with chunky heels and gold accents for a more girly outfit. And the best part? It also comes in dark turquoise.

Something else that’s totally rad about this dress? It was originally $138 and is now $119.95

rehearsal-hoodieRehearsal Hoodie

The athleisure movement is my favorite, mainly because I can wear leggings and hoodies to class and somehow manage to look very en vogue rather than disheveled. This pick is great because of the crop and neutral colors. Grey is the perfect match for those days when you want to wear some crazy patterned leggings but don’t have a top to go with them and the crop top keeps the look from being slouchy. Just keep in mind that the top seems to run shorter in arm length than a normal hoodie!

Top was originally $88 but is now $49.95

Happy shopping!

Moving Into Sorority Row

Hey y’all! Things have been craaaaazy busy in my life as of late. But, good news! I moved into the Delta Gamma sorority house at the University of Georgia!

I’m already loving living with my sisters. They’ve been super great all through our hectic song practice schedules. We even had an alum from LA fly in to give a lecture on the purpose of recruitment! How neat is that?

So I bet you’re all dying to see what my dorm looks like…

Delta Gamma Bedspread

How cute is this?! My wonderful big made me the two canvases (the red says “glory glory to ole Georgia” and the black says “& if not He is still good Daniel 3:18”) and my mom got me the “on my mind” Georgia wall hanging.

This is my roommate’s side of the room. And that’s her fish, Fitz, on top of my dresser!

Last but not least, here is my desk, where I will probably be spending a majority of my time. Note my Betta fish, Tetra, and my moss ball, Marimo.  Hopefully I’ll be able to do a tad bit more decorating before school starts on the 11th (the walls look a little bare, don’t they?) 🙂

Sassy Coffee Cups – Because It’s Still Too Early For Talking

I don’t know about you but my mornings just aren’t the same without a cup of coffee. A word of caution though, don’t try to talk to me before I’ve finished at least half a cup; you might end up seeing a side of me that’s not to your liking!

Because I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t do much conversing in the mornings, here are some coffee cups that will do all your talking for you.

il_570xn-911277606_g55gHello, yes, I’m calling in sick today. No it’s not a cold. It’s something called “introverting.” It’s like hibernating but for people who don’t like other people. Especially the loud ones. I’ll be back next week.

And hey, at least it says please on it!

Make Mine a Double

Today I popped into one of my favorite coffee shops in Asheville, Double D’s Coffee & Desserts! If you’re ever wandering through the streets of Downtown you can’t miss this, mainly because it’s a bright red double-decker bus parked in a patio.

Besides its iconic English face, I love the bus’s whimsical inside decor and the upstairs windows that are perfect for people watching. Another cool perk? The coffee beans and syrups are local. My favorite is the dirty chai!

Double D’s is such a neat place to hang out, sip on a drink, and watch the world go bye. Next time I go I’ll remember to charge my phone beforehand so it doesn’t die mid photo shoot, haha!

The Ultimate Preppy Sticker Post

IMG_0620If you know me then you’re probably aware that I cover everything in stickers. Even my backpack has patches from places I’ve visited. Not only do stickers liven up a plain old water bottle or laptop case, they can be conversation starters! For instance, I’m obssessed with Vineyard Vines and put their whale stickers on pretty much any surface that’s sticker-able and a girl in my math class ended up talking to me solely because she loves Vineyard Vines just as much. (Who could blame her, their whale logo is so adorable!)IMG_0614 IMG_0619

As many of you sticker connoisseurs know, lots of companies that used to give out stickers for free now no longer do that. There’s only a short list of retailers that still give out stickers for free (all you have to do is ask):

  • LuLuLax
    • Mail a self addressed, stamped envelope to LuLaLax Stickers, ChalkTalkSPORTS, 151 Woodward Avenue, Norwalk CT 06854
  • The North Face
  • Southern Girl Prep
  • Patagonia
  • Vineyard Vines
    • I’ve emailed them in the past at tieguys@vineyardvines.com but I’ve heard that it’s hit or miss getting free stickers nowadays
  • Southern Marsh
  • Marley Lilly
    • Currently out of stock at their free sticker page but you can give them your email address and be notified when stickers come back in
  • Krass & Co.
  • Pura Vida
    • Another blogger emailed them at info@puravidabracelets.com and asked for stickers – still haven’t heard what happened with that but it’s worth a shot!
  • Collared Greens
    • Email them at info@collaredgreens.com
  • The Lucky Knot
  • Ivory Ella
    • Send a self addressed, stamped envelope to Ivory Ella PO Box 492, East Lyme, CT 06333
  • Southern Tide
  • Vans
    • Send a self addressed, stamped envelope to Vans LLC., Attn: Stickers, N850 County Highway CB, Appleton WI 54914
  • Jadelynn Brooke
  • Sun Bum
    • Send a self addressed, stamped envelope to Sun Bum 101, N. Orlando Ave, Cocoa Beach FL 32931
  • Keil James Patrick
    • Word is they’ve stopped making stickers, but email them at CustomerService@KielJamesPatrick.com to ask for some, it can’t hurt!

You can still buy stickers though! Some companies will even pay for your shipping if you purchase a certain amount of sticker merchandise. Others will give you the sticker for free and have you pay for the shipping. Either way, it’s still a pretty good deal.

  • Tiny Tulip
    • Sticker is free, shipping is not
  • Southern Shirt
    • Pay for sticker, shipping is free
  • Life is Good
    • You can’t get these for free as far as I know, but they’re only a dollar or two and LiG sometimes has free shipping days!

Other places to look for stickers are:

  • local grocer at a vacation spot
  • Wings or Eagles
  • Etsy (check out this shop!)
  • Local cafes, bakeries, and shops sometimes give out stickers for free, just check near the cash register as you check out
  • Lauren James Co. (by far my absolute favorite stickers! so cute!)
  • Redbubble

Still want more? Check out my Pinterest board, you’ll be in prepster sticker heaven!
