Last Friday was DG formal. Will and I had so much fun! I’m incredibly thankful to have someone that will tacky-dance with me to Mr. Brightside (even though he doesn’t know all the lyrics 😉
The Delta Iota chapter of Delta Gamma celebrated Founder’s Day on Sunday!
So thankful for the sorority that brought my friends and I together!
I’m so excited that fall is finally here! And with fall comes UGA Homecoming! I don’t think I could ever express how thankful I am for all the opportunities the University of Georgia has given me. I’ve participated in Homecoming every single year of college. Last year I was the Community Outreach Chair, and this year I get to oversee all of Homecoming Court.
The University of Georgia has also given me the Arch Society. Not only have I found many of my close friends through Arch, I’ve gotten to meet some of the smartest, most driven individuals of my age. I am constantly amazed by their curiosity, selflessness, and intellect. Below are a few photos from our dinner at the President’s house.
While I don’t really enjoy football, getting to work the games with the Arch Society is a thrill. I may not know who all the players are but I certainly love the Dawg Nation spirit!
Fall also means getting my grand little!
And who would I be if I didn’t mention something from Target’s current dollar spot section? Of course it was love at first sight with this Hocus Pocus inspired candle!
Now that the weather is finally cooling down (okay, so, it’s still mid to upper 70’s in Athens…we’ll just go ahead and count it as “cooling down”) I can drink tea throughout the day without being hot and sweaty on both the outside and the inside. I really like drinking Throat Coat tea when the Freshman Plague rolls around. I get sick easily, and it always ends up involving my throat, so this tea really helps decrease the inflammation and irritation caused by both allergies and sickness. Plus each tea bag comes with a little inspirational quote! How cute.
Last but certainly not least, I’m excited to finally be able to wear boots again. These are my current favorites: Lucky Brand black booties.
Junior year is really happening, y’all, and I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this past week has been. I moved into my house on the 7th and started recruitment for Delta Gamma the very next day at 7 am! After that, it’s been a whirlwind.
Last year I did a post about my room in the Delta Gamma house with pictures of how I decorated. I didn’t make one this year because I’m still trying to unpack all my stuff. Let me know in the comments section below if you’d like another room decor post!
So back to recruitment. This year I recruited every single round. To say that I’m exhausted is an understatement. Not only do I love sharing the joy my sisters bring me year round, I love being able to goof off in between rounds and get to know all my sweet UGA DG’s even better. This year I had the most amazing bump group (mainly because I got to recruit with my little Rachel!).
Last night I did something very, very special. I volunteered with the Arch Society, as well as five other student orgs vital to the university, to help make freshman welcome a reality. The freshmen at the University of Georgia have the opportunity to walk into Stanford Stadium and take pictures on the field. They are welcomed by their orientation leaders, the Redcoat Marching Band, the SGA president, Kirby Smart the head football coach, and President Morehead. I passed out waters and cleaned up trash with my DG sister Stacy.
There’s definitely nothing like being back in Athens. Go Dawgs!
Each year Delta Gamma has both a fall and a spring philanthropy event. This past fall we had our annual Low Country Boil, and this past Monday we had out annual benefit concert called Anchor Jam.
Before the concert my friends and I all went out to eat at Pauley’s in Downtown Athens. If you’ve never had crepes before, definitely hit this place up for your first time. The crepes are light and decadent, stuffed with either sweet things like Nutella and fruit or savory things like chicken or cheese. I gave up cheese for Lent and am trying to eat healthier so I ended up having a salad. Let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised by how great it was!
It’s hard to tell in this picture (above), but the walls in Pauley’s are covered with “certificates” for all the people that have had one of every beer Pauley’s serves. The quotes from the master beer drinkers that are displayed on their certificates are hilarious! My friends and I spent most of the night trying to read them all.
After Pauley’s my friends and I made our way to the Georgia Theater, which is also in Downtown Athens. The Wandering Gypsies played as the opener for Anchor Jam, but the main event was The Lonely Biscuits. My friends on the UGA Homecoming Committee always rave about this band, but I’d never gotten to see them perform until Monday night. They were great! I liked how they incorporated both pop and singer/songwriter elements into classic rock’n’roll style jams. Definitely worth checking out if you have a minute.
Hey y’all! Things have been craaaaazy busy in my life as of late. But, good news! I moved into the Delta Gamma sorority house at the University of Georgia!
I’m already loving living with my sisters. They’ve been super great all through our hectic song practice schedules. We even had an alum from LA fly in to give a lecture on the purpose of recruitment! How neat is that?
So I bet you’re all dying to see what my dorm looks like…
How cute is this?! My wonderful big made me the two canvases (the red says “glory glory to ole Georgia” and the black says “& if not He is still good Daniel 3:18”) and my mom got me the “on my mind” Georgia wall hanging.
This is my roommate’s side of the room. And that’s her fish, Fitz, on top of my dresser!
Last but not least, here is my desk, where I will probably be spending a majority of my time. Note my Betta fish, Tetra, and my moss ball, Marimo. Hopefully I’ll be able to do a tad bit more decorating before school starts on the 11th (the walls look a little bare, don’t they?) 🙂
